Ingredients

  • ¼ cup 60 g mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup 60 g yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp 30 g barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tbsp 30 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp 30 g honey
  • ½ tsp ground horseradish
  • 1 tbsp 15 g whole grain mustard
  • ¼ tsp herbs de Provence

Method

  1. Begin by placing ¼ cup of mayonnaise and ¼ cup of yellow mustard into a medium mixing bowl. These two ingredients will form the creamy, tangy foundation of your honey mustard sauce.
  2. Spoon in 2 tablespoons of your favorite barbecue sauce to give the mixture a smoky, slightly sweet undertone. Next, pour in 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. This touch of acidity helps balance the sweetness and adds brightness.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of honey to the bowl. The natural sweetness of honey is what gives this sauce its signature flavor, complementing the mustard’s tang and making the sauce rich and smooth.
  4. Sprinkle in ½ teaspoon of ground horseradish for a gentle kick, then add 1 tablespoon of whole grain mustard. The horseradish provides heat while the grainy mustard adds texture and complexity.
  5. Mix in ¼ teaspoon of herbs de Provence. This unexpected ingredient infuses the sauce with a subtle, sweet, and slightly floral aroma that takes it to another level.
  6. Grab a whisk and blend everything until the sauce is creamy and fully combined. Taste and adjust if needed. Serve immediately or chill for 30 minutes to let flavors meld together beautifully.

Notes

Store leftover honey mustard in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Stir well before serving. Since it’s a cold sauce, no reheating is required-just serve chilled or at room temperature.
